KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Solution design and development: Contribute significantly to the design, development, and implementation of system solutions. Participate actively in greenfield development projects, offering insights, ideas, and technological expertise to ensure the successful delivery of quality software
2. AWS Expertise: Act as the team’s AWS authority, using your superior knowledge to guide the team in best practices for AWS solutions. This includes implementing, automating, and maintaining AWS services, as well as helping the team navigate complex AWS tasks and projects.
3. Python Expertise. Act as the team's Python Authority, using your knowledge to guide the team in best practices. You will be responsible for mentoring the team and shaping their learning paths in the area.
4. DevOps Practices: Utilize Azure DevOps to support continuous integration and continuous delivery processes. This includes using Azure DevOps tools to manage code repositories, build, test, and deploy applications, and monitor system performance and issues.
5. Quality Assurance: Maintain exacting standards for software quality and work on continuous improvement of system design and architecture. Review code for potential improvements and collaborate with the team to implement changes.
6. Problem solving: Assist in troubleshooting and resolving system failures or degradations. Work with other team members to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions
7. Cross-functional collaboration: Work with other teams and stakeholders within the company to understand their needs and translate them into system requirements. This includes collaborating on project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
8. Knowledge sharing: Share your knowledge and expertise with the team. Mentor junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. An element of Line Management will also be expected.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
9. Python development experience within a commercial environment including operational support.
10. Valuable experience with application development using AWS.
11. Experience creating Terraform scripts for infrastructure provisioning and management
12. Valuable experience in manipulating different file types such as JSON /XML
13. Knowledge and experience of Agile development methodologies.
14. Good understanding of GIT.
Desirable
15. Knowledge of automated delivery processes, including Azure DevOps Pipelines.
16. Qualified to degree level in software engineering or equivalent.
17. Experience of migrating applications to cloud-based micro services.
18. Working in distributed development teams.
