We are recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing accountancy practice in Luton who are looking to add an Audit Senior to their team.
The Audit Senior is a key contributor to their audit practice, responsible for leading high-quality, compliant audit engagements across diverse industries in line with UK GAAP, IFRS, and professional auditing standards.
This role ensures the accuracy, transparency and regulatory compliance of financial statements for a broad client base.
The Audit Senior manages all phases of the audit lifecycle—from planning and risk assessment to execution, reporting, and client communication—delivering insightful, actionable findings. With strong technical acumen and leadership skills, the individual mentors junior team members, drives process improvements, and strengthens client relationships. Responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end audit engagements in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and professional standards.
Design and implement tailored audit plans based on client-specific risks, industry dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
Review and approve audit workpapers to ensure completeness, accuracy, and adherence to firm policies and technical standards.
Prepare and issue clear, well-supported audit reports that address financial statement assertions and regulatory expectations.
Serve as primary client contact, managing expectations, resolving issues, and maintaining strong, professional relationships.
Mentor and supervise junior audit staff, providing guidance, feedback, and support for career development.
Identify financial reporting risks, internal control gaps, and operational inefficiencies, delivering practical recommendations.
Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery and alignment with firm objectives.
Contribute to audit methodology enhancements, technology integration, and continuous process optimization.
RequirementsAudit Senior
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification (in progress or fully qualified).
3–5 years of progressive audit experience within a reputable firm or corporate finance environment.
In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS, including complex accounting treatments and disclosure requirements.
Proven track record in managing full-cycle audit engagements, including risk assessment, testing, and reporting.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial insights clearly to varied audiences.
Strong analytical mindset, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and accuracy.
Proficiency in audit software (e.g., CaseWare, TeamMate) and advanced Excel; experience with data analytics tools is advantageous.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.
Willingness to travel for client engagements as required.
