We are looking to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified candidate to work within the Contracts and Engineering team, under the direction of the Contracts and Engineering Manager, to manage and co-ordinate the design and delivery of improvement, enhancement, maintenance works and civil engineering projects.
The Post Holder will carry out Section 38 and 278 Inspections on new developments within the authority and complete relevant paperwork with regards to the Adoption Process. The Post Holder will liaise with the Contracts and Engineering Team in the development of NEC4 Civil Engineering Framework and Term Maintenance Contracts within the department to facilitate statutory service delivery functions.
The Post Holder will demonstrate good organisational skills and the ability to plan and supervise schemes from concept to completion with minimal supervision. A good knowledge of engineering practice is essential together with a familiarity with NEC4 Contracts, highways technical specifications and the requirement for compliance with regulatory and statutory functions. The post holder will have an understanding of operational practices in respect of highway maintenance with particular respect to carriageway resurfacing and sustainable highway drainage.
A qualification in Civil Engineering to HNC or equivalent is an essential requirement in addition to the ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills. The successful candidate must have the ability to meet deadlines and develop and maintain working practices, which are compliant with established protocols and the statutory and regulatory functions of the department.
