Job Summary
We are looking for an inspiring leader to join the Planned Care divisional management team, across both the Chelsea & West Middlesex hospital sites. This operational role will involve leading a number of different specialities – including ENT & Vascular. The post holder needs a track record of managing and leading teams in a complex and changing environment, a strong sense of initiative, and the ability to work independently and as a valued member of a team. We are looking for a professional and highly effective communicator who can work well with clinical colleagues and patients. Experience of RTT and Cancer Performance Management is essential.
Roles And Responsibilities
* Provide hands‑on operational management to designated areas of the Directorate, ensuring delivery of services in line with expected service standards.
* Hold responsibility to the Deputy General Manager and General Manager for monitoring and delivery of key quality, productivity and performance targets, e.g. RTT and Cancer.
* Investigate and coordinate complaints that are predominantly administrative/medical related within the directorate, working closely with Service Directors, Lead Nurse, medical staff and Patient Advisors.
* Manage and implement innovation projects in all areas of the directorate as identified by the Deputy General Manager.
* Ensure effective communication, including regular team and departmental briefings.
* Promote excellent customer service and patient experience, taking remedial action to correct poor and unresponsive service.
* Support delivery of quality and Clinical Governance objectives such as risk management and incident reporting/investigation.
* Participate in business planning, ensuring multi‑disciplinary involvement at the specialty level in activity and development plans.
* Ensure that clinic templates, procedure schedules and rotas deliver care at times that meet service capacity and patient needs.
* Assists the Deputy General Manager in production, implementation and revision of operational policies throughout the Directorate.
* Support completion of patient and staff surveys and other feedback mechanisms, formulating remedial action plans.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications – Essential
* Evidence of ongoing development.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
Education and Qualifications – Desirable
* PRINCE2 Practitioner in Project Management or equivalent.
Experience – Essential
* Demonstrable operational management experience (people and processes).
* Sound knowledge of acute hospital processes.
* Experience in NHS RTT and Cancer Performance metrics.
Experience – Desirable
* Experience of working on and leading projects.
Skills and Knowledge – Essential
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Able to deal with conflict management and problem solving.
Skills and Knowledge – Desirable
* PRINCE2 Practitioner in Project Management or equivalent.
Employment and Working Conditions
Employment is subject to a six‑month probation. Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites.
