Akari Care is a family of Residential Care Homes spread across the UK, with the largest concentration of homes in the north-east. They are seeking a Credit Controller to join their finance team at their Leeds Support Centre, based in the centre of Leeds.
Main duties of the job
As a credit controller, you will be responsible for minimizing the aging of debt and retaining levels set by the Credit Manager. Your duties include managing the collection of debt through written and verbal communication, establishing relationships with individuals and local authorities to ensure timely payments, attending monthly debtors' meetings, following company policies on debt escalation, and performing other ad-hoc duties.

Job responsibilities
* Manage the timely collection of a portfolio of residential Care home debtors.
* Collect care fees from self-funding and local government residents.
* Maintain relationships with clients and local authorities for prompt payments.
* Meet monthly and quarterly cash/debtor day targets.
* Attend debt management meetings and follow escalation policies.
* Perform other relevant duties as required.
Person Specification
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a credit control environment.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and establish good client relationships.
* Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office, and familiar with software such as SAGE.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to reconcile complex accounts.
* Self-disciplined, proactive, and able to work to deadlines.
* Ability to work Monday to Friday, with 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
