Overview
To work within the Radiotherapy department under the Therapeutic Radiographer Apprenticeship programme, committing to train as a therapeutic radiographer meeting the clinical and academic requirements of the course. The post holder will work alongside the multidisciplinary team whilst they train to be a therapeutic radiographer under the supervision of a registered practitioner. The post holder will be required to work shifts as required by the department.
The apprenticeship will run in conjunction with a higher education faculty (e.g. Sheffield Hallam University) and attendance of training is essential, so annual leave must be arranged outside these sessions. The post holder is required to study alongside working in the department and the successful candidate must be prepared to undertake any formal and informal study and training required to fulfil the needs of the post. There will be 20% protected study time (equivalent to 1 day per week).
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship the post holder will gain a BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic radiography and will be eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Therapeutic Radiographer.
