The North Metropolitan Education Region is seeking to appoint a dedicated and dynamic Lead School Psychologist. In joining a team of LSPs who work in a collaborative, self-managing environment; the successful applicant will have demonstrated effective team work skills across a range of settings. The successful applicant will also be able to engage with strategic planning, take a lead role in a portfolio/s area, and create collaborative, cross regional relationships.
As a Lead School Psychologist in North Metro you will be part of a self-determining team and directly accountable to the Regional Executive Director. You will also be professionally accountable to the Manager, School Psychology Service. Your practice will be guided and directed by Departmental policies and guidelines and the Psychology Board of Australia’s professional standards.
The Lead School Psychologist provides leadership and access to professional support and learning for all school psychologists, including ensuring professional supervision for provisionally registered psychologists to achieve standards outlined in the Competency Framework for School Psychologists. The position assures the quality of all school psychologists’ practice meets the professional standards of the Department and the Psychology Board of Australia and also leads in the provision of contemporary psychological practices. Broad experience and capacity to provide leadership across all core areas of the service (mental health, learning, behaviour and disability) will be advantageous.
The successful applicant will ensure effective deployment of school psychologists and access to specialist school psychology resources as well as provide direct advice to the Regional Executive Director, Principals and the system in the assessment and response to complex issues and situations, including emergency and critical incident management. You will also provide leadership in the development and implementation of appropriate programs, interventions and evaluations at all levels, including facilitation of systemic change and provide critical evaluation on issues impacting on the School Psychology Service.
The successful applicant will be capable of developing a team of school psychologists and lead the professional development and practice standards of psychologists with a range of experience from ASSP and Senior Psychologist to newly provisionally registered. The region supports an ongoing number of provisionally registered psychologists requiring LSP’s to play a role in the supervision process.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

5. Demonstrated leadership and engagement in a variety of professional activities that indicate critical self-reflection, flexibility, exemplary practice and the development of learning communities
