Pastoral Support Worker – Ellesmere Port | Full-Time Role Supporting Pupil Wellbeing
Are you passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and helping them feel safe, valued and understood in school? TalentBoard is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join our team and work across a range of Ellesmere Port primary and secondary schools.
This is a meaningful, full-time role supporting pupils who may be struggling with behaviour, confidence, attendance, mental health, social difficulties or emotional regulation. Your guidance will play a vital part in helping young people re-engage with learning and build brighter futures.
About the Role
As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will work within school pastoral, safeguarding and SEN teams to provide targeted emotional and behavioural support. Your day-to-day role may include:
* Offering 1:1 pastoral sessions and regular check-ins with vulnerable pupils
* Supporting young people with SEMH needs, anxiety, low mood or social challenges
* Building trusted relationships through empathy, consistency and confidentiality
* Helping pupils manage behaviour, develop resilience and make positive choices
* Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, attendance leads and safeguarding staff
* Supporting restorative conversations and encouraging positive friendships
* Promoting emotional wellbeing and supporting pupils through difficult moments
* Monitoring concerns and following school safeguarding procedures

An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) is required.
Who We’re Looking For

* Pastoral or wellbeing roles in schools
* Youth work, mentoring or coaching
* Behaviour support or SEMH environments
* Support work, social care, or community support services
* Mental health, counselling, early help or therapeutic roles
You’ll thrive in this role if you are:
* Calm, patient and emotionally aware
* Skilled at de-escalation and supportive communication
* Able to build trust with pupils who may be withdrawn or dysregulated
* Confident supporting a wide range of emotional and behavioural needs
* Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning
Training or experience in SEMH, safeguarding, behaviour support, trauma-informed practice or mental health is beneficial but not essential.
