Role: Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine
Rates: £90 - £120 per hour (PAYE)
Shifts: 09:00am - 17:00pm, Monday to Friday

As a locum consultant in respiratory medicine, you will support patient demand across the hospital, applying your skills in both acute respiratory and general medicine, especially for complex cases involving multiple symptoms and conditions.
You will work flexible shifts at Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, providing expertise in diagnostic reasoning, managing COPD exacerbations, and supporting junior doctors and trainees.
The Trust offers access to advanced medical equipment and opportunities for research, specialization, and academic development.
In this role, you will help develop and improve services within admissions, outpatient, and intensive care units, collaborating with a team of dedicated consultants to enhance care, flow, and capacity.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
* Support patients and families, communicating diagnoses and treatment options clearly.
* Coordinate treatment plans and prescribe treatments.
* Monitor and care for patients continuously.
* Communicate with the multidisciplinary team for shared decision-making.
* Lead or work within a multidisciplinary team.
* Assess patient needs, delegate tasks effectively.
* Recognize and report changes in patient conditions.
* Perform administrative tasks like record-keeping, prescriptions, and treatment monitoring.
* Conduct research to improve procedures and outcomes.
* Train junior doctors and medical students.
Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications
* GMC registered Doctor (not necessarily on the Specialist Register).
* Relevant consultant-level experience or references supporting transition to Consultant.
* Evidence of Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).
* Pass an enhanced DBS check.
