West Berkshire Council is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Transport and Countryside Service, working alongside the Senior Engineer (Traffic & Road Safety) to deliver high-quality engineering projects that contribute to the improvement of transport infrastructure in the local area.
The Role
As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of engineering projects from initial design through to implementation. Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with the design and implementation of traffic management and road safety schemes
* Conducting site surveys and inspections to assess engineering requirements
* Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure project objectives are met
* Managing contractor relationships and overseeing work on-site
* Providing technical advice and support to colleagues and customers
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
* A relevant engineering qualification and experience in a similar role
* Knowledge of traffic management and road safety engineering principles
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver multiple projects
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders
* Self‑motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
