The post holder will assist in the day to day operations and technical aspects of the service.

The post holder will assist the senior laboratory BMS in the delivery of a high quality, efficient and effective service, through the Quality Management System [QMS]. They will assist in the implementation of change as directed by the laboratory seniors/manager, when delegated or appropriate to service needs.

The post holder is expected to implement policies and procedures ensuring that the service complies with current UKAS standards, national and European legislation and discipline specific regulatory bodies.

The post holder will assist in the training and development of scientific and support staff.

To perform as a HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist [BMS] assisting in the delivery of the department services.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
* Knowledge of biomedical procedures acquired through training to A level or NVQ3 level
Skills

Essential criteria
* Fundamental laboratory practice including H&S
* Specimen preparation
* Understanding for the need of patient confidentiality at all times
Desirable criteria
* Teaching / Training experience
Experience

Essential criteria
* Demonstrable experience in Pathology Laboratory environment
* Ability to work under own initiative
Desirable criteria
* Microtomy
* Pathologist assist
* Digital Pathology
* Embedding
Knowledge

Essential criteria
* Ability to relay test results to clinicians and other staff and answers queries
* Able to communicate with all levels of staff within the Organisation and a wide range of individuals and organisations outside the Trust e.g. General Practitioners.
* Good interpersonal & telephone skills.
* Requires keyboard skills and computer skills for the operation of the computer system.
