Join us as a Data Centre Network Engineer
We’re looking for a skilled Data Centre Network Engineer to develop and implement core infrastructure technologies, products, and services that meet customer and non-functional requirements. Your role will be vital in ensuring a first-class customer experience by engineering infrastructure technology to comply with security, availability, resilience, performance, and capacity standards. You will collaborate with colleagues across the bank, expanding your professional network and gaining valuable exposure.
What you'll do
As a Data Centre Network Engineer, you’ll contribute to and manage the selection, creation, and maintenance of technologies required to meet our customers' needs, aligning with the Chief Technology Office (CTO) strategic targets and architecture outcomes. Your responsibilities include:
* Ensuring the platform backlog contains detailed acceptance criteria to support operations and warranty periods post-migration.
* Contributing to complex and high-risk technical infrastructures.
* Developing and managing infrastructure roadmaps, detailing technology lifecycles from deployment to end-of-support and retirement.
* Providing operational support during major incidents or complex technical issues.
* Building relationships across the bank to ensure decisions are commercially focused and create long-term value.
The skills you'll need
Success in this role requires understanding how your expertise supports customers, from technology development to risk-based decisions. You should have a broad knowledge of infrastructure layers or stacks, including platforms such as servers, operating systems, virtualization, databases, middleware, or networks. Experience in contributing to roadmaps, working with third parties, and managing their performance is essential. Excellent communication skills are needed to convey complex technical concepts clearly to peers and management, along with strong collaboration and stakeholder management abilities.
* Good knowledge of Cisco Data Centre Network Architecture, TCP/IP protocols, and network technologies such as Software Defined Networking (e.g., ACI, VXLAN), traditional networking, BGP, OSPF, Cisco IOS/NX-OS, and design concepts.
* Interest or experience in APIs, automation tools, and methodologies like Ansible.
* Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts.
* Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments with continuous delivery and integration.
