Temporary Cancer Biology Technician
Join our newly established research group under Dr Daniel Turnham at UWE Bristol. The team focuses on advancing the understanding of prostate cancer progression and identifying novel therapeutic targets to improve treatment options for advanced disease.
About This Role
You will contribute to two projects funded by the Academy of Medical Sciences and UWE’s Vice‑Chancellors Early Career Researcher Award, both focused on developing innovative therapeutic approaches for advanced prostate cancer.
Key responsibilities include performing 2D and 3D cell culture, qRT‑PCR, Western blotting, omics‑based analysis, and collaborating closely with postgraduate students and other team members to support day‑to‑day project activities.
About You
Required background: strong foundational knowledge in cell or cancer biology, BSc (Hons) in biomedical sciences or a related discipline, and extensive experience in tissue culture and core molecular techniques. You must manage your workload independently and be able to generate, analyse, and interpret experimental data.
Desirable experience: RNA‑seq, metabolomics, live‑cell imaging, or dissecting animal tissues. A demonstrable interest in cancer biology and a focused plan for how this position could help you develop your research career are also valued.
Location
The role is based at our vibrant Frenchay campus, equipped with state‑of‑the‑art laboratories, facilities, and equipment.
