Job Description:
The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical care for patients in the community for the West Cluster. Additionally, the post-holder will support and contribute to the development of the broader Older Adult team. The post holder will collaborate with the Home-Based Treatment Team and Care Coordinators from the three Community Mental Health Teams in Salford to facilitate discharge and provide an alternative to inpatient admission.
Main duties of the job
Clinical role
* Undertake assessments of referrals/admissions to the service
* Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations
* Provide management in treatment-resistant and complex presentations
* Assess and manage risk, including vulnerability, suicide risk, health and safety risks, and risks of harm to others
* Prepare reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals and Managers' Hearings and attend subsequent hearings
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including external partners
* Partner with psychiatrists from providers such as Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatrists
Leadership role
* Lead clinical decision-making within the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care
* Develop service clinical priorities aligned with national and professional standards
* Participate in service transformation programs, including attending consultant meetings
Educational role
* Provide clinical supervision for trainees gaining core psychiatric experience
* Supervise psychiatric trainees in achieving core general psychiatry competencies
