Milk Education are recruiting Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) Support staff to work across a range of primary schools in South Tyneside and Sunderland.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional emotional and behavioural needs and helping them to succeed both academically and socially.
The Role
As a Social, Emotional & Mental Health Support Assistant, you will:
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
2. Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement
3. Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
4. Assist in creating a calm, safe and nurturing learning environment
5. Support pupils both in the classroom and in intervention spaces
6. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
7. Monitor and record progress and behaviour
The Ideal Candidate
8. Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs (school, care, youth work or similar)
9. Patient, resilient and empathetic
10. Confident in managing challenging behaviour
11. Strong communication and teamwork skills
12. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
