We are looking to recruit an innovative, energetic Child Psychotherapist to our growing Under 5’s provision. The postholder will be part of the newly formed 0-5 BEH CAMHS team, undertaking complex specialist assessments, formulating, managing risk, providing specialist interventions, and offering teaching and consultation to partner agencies.
Responsibilities include providing a high-quality, evidence-based psychoanalytic and psychodynamic service to children under 5, their families, carers, and professional networks. This involves assessment and therapy, offering specialist advice and consultation regarding diagnoses and treatment to CAMHS colleagues and external agencies, working autonomously within professional guidelines and team policies.
Key duties involve formulating and implementing treatment plans based on appropriate conceptual frameworks, employing methods of proven efficacy across various care settings in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team (MDT). The role requires reflecting upon assessments and treatment formulations, adjusting them as needed, and maintaining multiple provisional hypotheses. The postholder will be responsible, in consultation with the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Service Lead, for implementing a range of psychoanalytic and psychodynamic interventions for children and their families. Additionally, they will provide assessment and discharge planning for families of young children and infants, and evaluate treatment options considering complex historical and developmental factors.
