Job Summary
The individual will play a key role in delivering a high quality service at Velindre Cancer Centre. The post holder will be part of a team providing a registration and scheduling service for patients' appointments and treatments. The role involves registering patients as required, ensuring that the standard/agreed form is complete with all relevant information before registration, and liaising with patients to give them a choice of available appointments using the Trust's computerised booking system.
Self‑management is essential; the post holder must manage and prioritise time and workload, working primarily independently and on own initiative with minimal supervision. The role requires effective communication and collaboration with clinical and administrative teams, and the ability to adapt daily work plans to meet rapidly changing priorities in an unpredictable workload.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure that all patients are registered accurately on the Trust's computerised system to agreed timescales.
* Check patient demographic and GP details are correct on the system and amend as necessary.
* Act on instruction from the consultant, liaise with the patient to ensure a suitable appointment date and time.
* Schedule patient's treatment and out‑patient appointments using the Trust's IT systems.
* Provide effective communication of any relevant information to those responsible for preparing out‑patient and treatment clinics.
* Help maintain excellent communication links with all departments.
* Work as part of a team to improve the performance of the department.
* Participate in the training and support of new staff.
* Track all records handled as appropriate.
* Provide cover for colleagues as requested.
* Attend mandatory training.
* Use the Trust's IT systems as required to undertake a range of duties.
* Be able to adapt to change in ways of working as necessary.
* The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or level of knowledge and experience
* Advanced keyboard skills
