We currently have a vacancy for a Group Head of IT based in our Milton Keynes office on a Hybrid basis. Reporting to the CFO, this role will oversee the technology strategy, infrastructure, system development, and operations across the organization. This leadership role ensures IT initiatives align with business objectives, enhance operational efficiency, and drive innovation. The Group Head of IT will lead a team of IT professionals, manage vendor relationships, and ensure the security and integrity of all information systems. They will also lead the implementation of an ERP solution.
This role may require occasional travel to other locations or vendor meetings, and working outside standard hours to address urgent IT issues or manage projects during non-peak times.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the deployment of IT systems, including Oracle Netsuite, Mobile Workforce Management (Reflow), and Power BI reporting systems.
2. Develop and implement the IT strategy aligned with business goals.
3. Identify opportunities for technological innovation to enhance competitiveness.
4. Oversee the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and investments.
5. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team.
6. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional development.
7. Set objectives and performance metrics for the IT department.
8. Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of IT infrastructure.
9. Oversee deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and support of all IT systems.
10. Manage cloud services and data centers, ensuring performance and security.
11. Retire legacy infrastructure and software to mitigate security risks and costs.
12. Ensure efficient IT service desk functions and high customer satisfaction.
13. Manage and mitigate IT-related risks, including cyber threats and data breaches.
14. Develop and report on key IT performance metrics.
15. Develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
16. Stay updated on cybersecurity threats and implement robust defenses.
17. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
18. Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
19. Negotiate contracts and SLAs for high-quality service and value.
20. Act as a liaison between IT and other departments to meet their needs with technological solutions.
21. Oversee new IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
22. Implement project management best practices.
23. Coordinate with cross-functional teams for seamless technology integration.
24. Drive adoption of emerging technologies for competitive advantage.
25. Continuously assess and improve IT processes, policies, and systems.
26. Encourage innovation within the IT team to solve business challenges.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
1. Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s or MBA preferred.
2. At least 10 years in IT, with 5+ in senior leadership.
3. Proven experience in strategic planning and execution.
4. Strong background in IT infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity.
5. Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
6. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
7. Knowledge of IT project management methodologies.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change.
10. Relevant certifications like PMP, ITIL, CISSP, or CISM are highly desirable.
