Interim Head of Department – Early Years & Education
Based in Nottinghamshire
Are you an experienced educational leader who can step in quickly, provide stability, and drive high-quality outcomes from day one? We are seeking an Interim Head of Department to lead the Early Years & Education curriculum during a key transitional period.
This role is perfect for a confident, solution-focused interim who thrives on challenge, collaboration and making an immediate impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Provide strong leadership to deliver outstanding teaching, learning and learner outcomes
* Work with employers and universities to keep the curriculum industry-aligned and future-ready
* Lead quality processes, including observations, learning walks and targeted CPD
* Strengthen employer partnerships, placements and apprenticeship pathways
* Oversee quality assurance, budgeting, staffing and performance management
* Promote a safe, inclusive and high-performing learning environment
* Support recruitment, events and cross-college priorities
* Deliver occasional teaching where needed
What We’re Looking For
* Proven leadership experience within FE, Early Years, Education or Teaching & Learning
* A track record of improving teaching quality and curriculum performance
* Experience with 16–18 provision, adult learning and apprenticeships
* A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed/QTS)
* Strong communication, organisational and analytical skills
* Confidence leading change and driving continuous improvement
* A values-driven, learner-centred approach
