UK Power Networks Services is looking to employ an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial aspects of the contracts.\n\nJob Purpose\n\nTo assist Quantity Surveyors, the Area Commercial Manager, and the Lead Commercial Manager in providing professional commercial support to the UKPN Services business across specified long-term contracts and competitively tendered client projects.\n\nYou will support commercial aspects of contracts and projects, including contract setup, management, pricing, service delivery, scope changes, and dispute resolution. You will ensure contract compliance and support efforts to maximise profit delivery.\n\nAdditionally, we ask that you support the commercial project team, which may include Quantity Surveyors, Commercial Quantity Surveyors, and Commercial Administrators, in the management of clients, subcontractors, and supplier contracts.\n\nImportant Responsibilities:\n\nCommercial & Contract Management: \nSupport the contract and commercial management team to achieve all contract related commercial goals.\nEnsure all activities comply with UKPN guidelines, goals, and procedures, reporting any areas of non-conformance to the Area Commercial Manager.\nTo be commercial lead for smaller projects, or for larger projects to provide support, on a portfolio of nominated contracts and client construction projects\nCost Estimation & Budget Control: \nHelp prepare cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents\nMonitor project costs and ensure alignment with budgets\nProcurement & Supplier Management: \nSupport in preparing and reviewing contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders\nHelp evaluate and negotiate supplier and subcontractor agreements\nReporting & Compliance: \nHelp prepare monthly valuations, cost reports, and forecasts\nSupport in assessing and certifying subcontractor payments\nIdentify and report potential financial risks and discrepancies\nProduce quality reports, questioning the decisions and directions of others where necessary\nProject Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement: \nWork with project managers, site teams, and senior quantity surveyors\nAttend site visits, progress meetings, and client briefings\nWork with the Client Delivery Manager, Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, other commercial team and P6 Planners to deliver advice and support, to ensure that the projects are managed following the contract.\nGeneral Responsibilities: \nCollaborate with external partners and team members to ensure projects progress without delay\nProvide support for dispute resolution where required\nMaintain knowledge of major contracts to support cover purposes, transfer best practices, and contribute to future growth projects within UKPN Services \n\nDimensions:\n\nTurnover - up to £10 million per year project and/or contract revenues\nNo direct reports \n\nAlthough based at the sites above, the jobholder will develop knowledge of other major contracts for cover purposes, to transfer best practice and to facilitate working on future growth projects within UKPN Services.\n\nQualifications:\n\nEssential: \nEducated to degree level in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional qualifications and experience\nExperience in a similar role (experience in construction, infrastructure, or Electrical engineering) is advantageous\nExperience with cost estimation, procurement, and contract management\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel, cost management software, and financial reporting tools\nWork as part of a team or independently in a fast-paced environment\nTeamworking skills with a proactive and adaptable approach.\nDesirable: \nKnowledge of construction contracts (e.g., NEC)\nExperience supporting the resolution of commercial disputes\nFamiliarity with project reporting and financial forecasting
