Citadel Source are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a global services organisation to appoint a Group Financial Controller who will play a critical role in ensuring stability, high-quality reporting and robust financial control across a complex, multi-entity, multi-currency group operating in across the globe.
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a pivotal role at group level, supporting a finance function that is central to the organisation’s continued growth and operational discipline.
About you
The successful candidate will be a technically strong, detail-focused finance leader with experience operating in a global environment. You will have outstanding communication and partnering skills, enabling you to work effectively across senior leadership, internal finance teams and external stakeholders.
You will be experienced in and comfortable leading group consolidation, statutory reporting and financial control areas, and capable of both setting direction and being hands-on where required. Experience managing and developing teams, as well as navigating the complexities of multi-entity environments, will be essential.
The role
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who thrives on ownership and structure. You will take responsibility for the central group consolidation process, statutory compliance, technical accounting and financial control, ensuring that group reporting runs smoothly and consistently.
Working closely with the Group Finance Director, you will also support broader transformation and improvements across the finance function, promoting high standards and best practice throughout the global network, including elements of future systems change.
As the Group Financial Controller, your role will include, but not be limited to:
Leadership & Relationship Management
* Provide leadership, direction and development to direct reports and oversee the UK Financial Control team
* Build strong working relationships across global finance teams, supporting the consistent application of group policies
* Liaise with FP&A, Treasury, and external auditors to support compliance and reporting activities
Group Consolidation & Month-End Close
* Lead the monthly group consolidation process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting aligned with group accounting policies
* Manage month-end close activities, including intercompany reconciliations and distribution of reporting timetables
* Oversee key subsidiary balance sheet reconciliations to ensure global consistency and high-quality control
* Assist with the annual group audit, partnering with subsidiaries and external auditors to meet statutory deadlines
* Maintain master data integrity within the consolidation system
* Work with Group FP&A to contribute to insightful management reporting
Statutory Reporting & Compliance, Policy, Technical Accounting & Financial Control
* Prepare statutory accounts
* Deliver annual statutory accounts for group business
* Liaise with external advisers to support the audit
* Draft, update and implement group accounting policies, ensuring global adherence
* Support the implementation of new transfer pricing policies
* Oversee UK financial accounting as required, ensuring accurate month-end postings and balance sheet discipline
Projects & Continuous Improvement
* Contribute to project work and ad-hoc initiatives as required
* Identify and drive improvements to processes, reporting and governance across the global finance function
