Overview
Working hours: This role is available on a part-time, job-share or full-time basis.
Location: Swindon (hybrid working so some Swindon office presence will be required, approximately 2 days per week).
The opportunity: An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the UK Life Reporting team as an Assistant Accountant. You will be responsible for supporting the team in delivering its quarterly and annual financial reporting responsibilities under IFRS and Local Statutory. As part of the role, you will be responsible for timely and accurate preparation of internal and external financial information to balance financial performance, compliance, and customer satisfaction. You will play a vital part in helping the department achieve its operational objectives and ensure the team delivers a high-quality service. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who is able to work both independently and as part of a team to deliver on our commitment to customers. Flexible working options are discussed at interview, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, working from home or compressed hours.
What will you be doing:
Responsibilities
* Preparation and review of key reports during quarter and year end periods, to support the delivery of all IFRS reporting requirements and commentary.
* Ongoing analysis and oversight of SAP ledgers, supporting intercompany balance queries, cash management and journal entries/queries.
* Support the preparation of annual statutory accounts and year end audit.
* Continue to challenge and improve our processes.
* Provide broader team support as required.
Qualifications
* You will be studying towards an accounting qualification.
* You will have strong Excel skills including working with advanced formulas; experience of using PowerQuery is an advantage.
* You will have excellent time and task management skills.
* You will have strong communication skills.
* You will be enthusiastic, curious, and a proven quick learner with a can-do attitude.
* You will have strong problem-solving skills, and a high level of agility.
* You will have knowledge of financial systems & business platforms (SAP an advantage).
