HaysEducation is recruiting passionate and knowledgeable Religious Education Teachers to work across a variety of secondary schools in Gloucester. These roles are available on a temporary basis, offering both day-to-day cover and longer-term assignments depending on your availability and preferences. As a Hays Cover Teacher, you’ll have the flexibility to work in different school environments while making a meaningful impact on students’ understanding of world religions, ethics, and philosophy.
Your new role
Deliver engaging and inclusive RE lessons across KS3 and KS4
1. Plan and prepare lessons in line with the national curriculum (where required)
2. Mark and assess student work, providing constructive feedback to support progress
3. Promote respectful discussion and critical thinking around religious and ethical topics
4. Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment with strong behaviour management
5. Support students’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development
6. Liaise with teaching staff and pastoral teams to ensure student wellbeing
7. Adapt to different school settings and contribute positively to each school’s ethos
What you'll need to succeed
8. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
9. Experience teaching Religious Education in a UK secondary school
10. Strong subject knowledge across world religions, ethics, and philosophy
11. Confidence managing classroom behaviour and engaging mixed-ability groups
12. Excellentmunication and adaptability across different school environments
13. A flexible and proactive approach to teaching
14. Reliable transport (as some schools may not be easily accessible via public transport)
15. An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
