The role comprises undertaking and managing reservoir engineering and subsurface work-scopes and projects to the highest standards and provide expert support to the wider organisation. They can work independently without supervision.

A Principal RE has demonstrated expertise in reservoir engineering with an ability to solve complex and challenging problems. Experienced working in and managing integrated projects with limited oversight from a manager and able to utilise expert resources across the organisation and externally.

They must have a full appreciation and understanding of the complete cycle of oil and gas field exploration, development, operation, and decommissioning in addition to awareness of emerging energy transition technologies such as CCS, Hydrogen storage and geothermal.

Key Duties & Accountabilities:

Technical Analysis

* Using appropriate techniques, workflows and software to complete RE technical work scopes and projects.
* Works independently without supervision and as a part of a team.

Technical Leadership

* Provide technical leadership within RE and subsurface, ensuring alignment with company guidelines and industry best practice.
* Taking a leading role in ensuring integration with other discipline teams.
* Active engagement in industry events and publications.

Mentoring and Assurance

* Give guidance, mentoring and technical training to more junior engineers and team members.
* Deliver expert peer assist, peer review and assurance to projects.

Project Execution

* Manage the delivery of RE and integrated projects, ensuring high quality delivery of projects on time and within budget.
* Provide regular updates to management and client as required.

Documentation & Reporting

* Ensure all technical work is documented and that results, conclusions and recommendations are clearly communicated to the client.

Business Development

* Active in building and sustaining client relationships.
* Proactive in identifying and winning new business.
* Responsible for providing work scope, schedule and resource plan for proposals and tenders.

Knowledge & Qualifications:

* A degree in a relevant discipline
* Relevant expert level experience from an operator, consultancy or equivalent.
* Experience in full field life cycle, Field Development Planning, Due Diligence.

Skills:

* Expert in the application of the appropriate RE software, analysis and modelling techniques.
* Experience in the following core technical areas and expert in more than one:
* Well Test Analysis / PTA
* SCAL
* Material Balance
* Production Forecasting
* Uncertainty Analysis
* Reserves / CPR Assessment
* Field Production Management
* Development Planning and Optimisation
* Expert user of industry standard software, for example:
* Petrel-RE
* S3graf
* Saphir
* The ability to apply their experience to energy transition technologies such as CCS, Hydrogen storage and geothermal.
* Able to lead the development of technical solutions and standards.
* Capable to mentor senior professionals and lead technical teams.
* Proven project management skills, including client management, scheduling, and resource allocation.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
* High level of competence in the reporting and documentation of technical work scopes and projects. Able to manage and edit the delivery of a multi-disciplinary report.
* Good spoken and written English

Experience:

* Experience across the complete cycle of oil and gas field exploration, development, operation, and decommissioning.
* Proven extensive geophysics experience within an operator or consultancy in a technical role. Able to work independently.
* Experience in the project management of integrated projects with limited oversight OR A professional recognised as a subject matter expert with extensive experience.
