Job Purpose:
To ensure the residential care home and associated sites are well maintained, compliant with relevant health and safety standards, and in good working order. The role involves carrying out general maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical repairs, basic DIY, and responding to maintenance requests. The Maintenance Person plays a key part in creating a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the premises, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
* Perform general plumbing tasks such as unblocking drains, fixing leaks, replacing taps, and maintaining heating systems.
* Undertake minor electrical tasks such as replacing bulbs, testing sockets, and addressing simple wiring issues (within competence and regulation).
* Complete general DIY tasks including carpentry, painting, decorating, assembling furniture, and minor building repairs.
* Ensure that all maintenance work is compliant with health and safety regulations, fire safety, and CQC standards.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance works carried out, including logs of checks and repairs.
* Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify areas needing repair or improvement.
* Liaise with contractors and external service providers as needed.
* Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues.
* Support additional care home sites as required (own transport essential).
* Work collaboratively with the care team to minimize disruption to residents during maintenance activities.

Person Specification:

Essential:
* Proven experience in a general maintenance or handyman role, preferably in a care or residential setting.
* Competence in basic plumbing, electrical, and DIY tasks.
* Strong understanding of health & safety and compliance requirements.
* Reliable, trustworthy, and capable of working independently.
* Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
* Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Full UK driving licence and access to own transport.

Desirable:
* Relevant qualifications or certifications (e.g., City & Guilds, PAT testing, etc.).
* Experience working in care environments or similar regulated premises.

Additional Information:
* The role requires flexibility to occasionally support other sites as directed.
* Basic tools may be provided or subsidised.
* Enhanced DBS check will be required before appointment.
