Job Purpose:
Delivers operational support in order to deliver safe, environmentally compliant and efficient operation together with first line maintenance of the CHP, Biomass Boiler and Water Treatment Plants to maximise its availability and reliability. The Energy Team supports the delivery of production tasks by generating Steam and Power for internal customers.
What you'll do:
* Monitoring the CHP, Biomass Boiler, DI and RO Water Treatment Plants, Wood and sludge processes according to the current procedures and techniques.
* Carry out first line maintenance and fault investigation to ensure maximum plant availability.
* Undertake operational duties to the plant following agreed Operation Instructions including the Site Emergency Plan.
* Monitoring of plant – through regular inspection walks and undertaking of operational routines as directed by the Work Group Leader and Control Room Operator.
* Quality defect notification through the CMMS e.g. SAP and liaison with Engineering & Maintenance as required.
* Identifying and implementing initiatives to improve the management of site safety, contributing to the achievement of the company safety targets.
* Ensure consistent and accurate completion of the Shift Log entries and defect entries on the maintenance management system.
* Update processes and quality data to compile and distribute reports, as aligned to mill strategic objectives.
* Liaise and communicate with working parties to ensure timely release/re-commissioning of plant during day-to-day activities and following outage work.
* Support the creation of new and review of existing operational procedures, routines and reporting requirements to comply with current SHE policies.
* Cultivating a good operational environment, whilst also adhering to company policies and procedures.
* Support the execution of designated maintenance tasks, including those on planned and unplanned shutdowns. (Some tasks will include confined space entry with a requirement for RPE face fit test).
* Completing equipment isolations as a Production Authorised Person.
* Participate and deliver operations training and development of new staff.
* Ability and willingness to train to enact the duties of Control Room Operator as and when required.
* Be an active and functional member of the Mill Emergency Response Team (E.R.T.).
* Support the optimisation of fixed and variable costs in line with strategic targets.
* Through effective ‘task area management’ demonstrate ownership of the plant area, being a plant area knowledge specialist and have accountability for that area’s housekeeping.
* Required to work flexibly across the energy department and as requested take on additional activities to deliver key milestones, such as annual shutdowns, which the role holder is capable and competent to undertake.
What you'll bring:
* Sufficient, appropriate and relevant operations and/or engineering and maintenance experience within a similar role and/or process industry.
* Experience of operating within safety, environment and operational polices, standards, frameworks and statutory legislation.
* Willing to embrace change and challenge processes to improve the efficiency and the effectiveness of the site/company.
* Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to work effectively with site teams, and deal with key internal/external stakeholders, external organisations.
* Personally demonstrate a full commitment to safety, health and the environment (SHE) through words and actions.
* A willingness to work both inside and outside in all weather conditions.
* A willingness to work 12-hour shifts on a shift rota and be flexible towards shift cover.
* A desire to develop and grow within the team and progress towards working on the panel.
* Preferably an ONC/NVQ level 3 in a relevant discipline, and/or equivalent level of practical industrial experience.
* Have or be willing to work towards achieving Qualifications/licences to safely work in Confined Spaces and/or safely operate mobile plant e.g. FLT, MEWP as required for the role.
* Be willing to work towards achieving an external authority competence award and to train as a Production Authorised Person (PAP).
* Knowledge in MS Office, SAP and/or similar applications.
