Career Opportunity: Assistant Technician 1
The Biosciences division currently has an exciting career opportunity for an Assistant Technician 1 to join our evolving BioSciences Lab Services group.
The successful candidate will work within a team supporting various operational areas for the pharmaceutical, veterinary pharmaceutical, and chemical/agrochemical industries by evaluating the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of new chemical and biological entities, both in vitro and in vivo, in diverse test systems (cells, animals, plants, and soils).
Responsibilities (Full training provided):
1. Provide laboratory support to Study Directors for the day-to-day running of studies.
2. Perform horticultural tasks including growing and monitoring plants, crop maintenance, and implementing fertiliser and pest prevention regimes, alongside assisting with horticultural aspects of scientific research.
3. Assist with study setup, sample collection, and data generation.
4. Conduct laboratory work following Standard Operating Procedures and Good Laboratory Practice principles.
5. Carry out routine laboratory and equipment maintenance tasks as delegated.
6. Maintain a safe working environment by observing safety procedures, using protective clothing and equipment appropriately.
Minimum Requirements:
* National 5 qualifications (Assistant Technician) or HNC (or higher), or relevant on-the-job experience (Technician).
* A positive, constructive approach to working in a busy laboratory environment with attention to detail.
* Good computer literacy skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
This role is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract with a salary of £23,842.35 per annum. The closing date for applications is 16 May 2025.
