Cardiac Physiologist Assistant role at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust
Band 2. Applications invited for a highly motivated individual to join the Cardiology team as a Cardiac Physiologist Helper at Croydon University Hospital, part of Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. This is a busy and demanding role; the successful candidate will need previous experience of working in a busy department/ward.
Responsibilities
The main duties of the job are to assist the Cardiac Physiologists in their daily clinical work, and to perform some clerical and office duties. You will also be taught how to perform ECGs and help with stock control for the department.
The Cardiology Department is based in the Croydon Heart Centre, with a Cardiac Catheter Suite and Daycare Unit. It provides non-invasive procedures including ECGs, ambulatory monitoring (ECG, Event and BP), technician-led Exercise Tests, Adult Transoesophageal Echocardiography, Adult and Paediatric Transthoracic Echocardiography (including contrast, bubble studies and stress echo), and specialist Heart Failure, Valve and Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinics. Some duties may be required at Purley and New Addington Community Diagnostic Centres.

Job Requirements
Essential qualifications
* Good level of general education
* Demonstration of numeracy and literacy skills
* Good command of written and spoken English
Desirable qualifications
* GCSE Maths and English or equivalent qualification
Experience
* Essential: Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Desirable: Previous NHS experience; experience of using an Electronic Patient Record (e.g., Cerner Millennium)
Knowledge & Understanding
* Willing and capable of undertaking training
* Basic understanding of patient needs and the role of an NHS worker
Skills & Abilities
* Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication
* Good computer skills; good telephone manner
* Good organisational skills; ability to work as part of a team
* Ability to deal with distressed patients and respond sensitively to enquiries
* Ability to provide patients with an environment that supports privacy and dignity
* Flexible and adaptable
