Consultant Psychiatrist
Location: Cygnet Brighouse, England, United Kingdom
Overview: We are seeking an experienced full‑time Consultant Psychiatrist to lead senior medical cover within our high‑support inpatient rehabilitation service for men. The role focuses on preparing individuals for discharge or long‑term optimal functioning while working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead the provision of high‑quality care to service users admitted to Cygnet Lodge Brighouse.
* Act as a positive role model, maintaining a constructive attitude towards patients, families, visitors and staff.
* Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
* Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations, investigations, diagnoses and treatment.
* Conduct ward rounds, patient reviews and clinical audits.
* Lead risk assessment, risk management and embed clinical governance within the service.
* Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers’ hearings & attend hearings.
* Liaise with the Ministry of Justice for patient transfers and approval of leave.
* Maintain accurate patient records and regular communication with the Site Medical Director and Hospital Manager.
* Contribute to academic meetings and comply with CPD standards set by the GMC, Department of Health and the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Participate in the Telephone On‑call rota as required.
Qualifications
* Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified.
* Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC status.
* Experience and knowledge in Rehabilitation Psychiatry.
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Code of Practice, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity.
* Excellent communication, interview and assessment skills with clear, comprehensive medical note writing.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development.
* Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
