What's involved with this role: Interim Advanced/Senior Practitioner x3 - Childrens Services Reference no: Stoke on Trent 5246821 Pay Rate: £25.10 per hour PAYE 37 Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00 This opening assignment is for 3 months City: STOKE ON TRENT Enhanced DBS disclosure required Aspirational and dynamic qualified Children and Families Social Workers, who are interested in engaging the children in care in varied and diverse direct work to support them to achieve their permanency plan. Responsible for completing your statutory duties in co ordinating children’s plans, whilst ensuring they are individual to the child’s needs and aspirational in respect of focus, supporting children to engage with their plans and achieve the very best outcomes. Well supported, not only by team coordinators who support you with various administrative tasks, but also by an established and experienced management team. This will afford you opportunities to engage in direct work with your allocated children, to develop restorative relationships and to support children to understand their journey. Work alongside the Contact Service, to promote family time, with parents, siblings and significant people for the children in care, ensuring that children develop strong networks of support as they transition towards independent living. Key responsibilities: Manage complex cases, ensuring that the welfare of the child or young person is paramount at all times. Carry out assessments and manage child care plans within government and departmental prescribed timescales and standards, as required by the Team and/or Principal Manager. Ensure that children, young people and their families are fully involved in the process of assessment. Ensure that service user records are maintained in accordance with departmental procedures. Ensure that the departments and authority’s resources are deployed efficiently and effectively at all times. Responsible for the allocation of appropriate tasks to ASYEs, Apprentices and Social Work Assistants and to provide for the necessary support and guidance necessary for the completion of those tasks. Undertake more complex case work. Provide mentoring and support to others and support group supervision as required by the Team Manager. Responsible for effective time management and responding flexibly to the needs of the service. Qualifications: Approved social work qualification: Social Work degree, DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent. Registration with Health Care Profession Council (HCPC). Hold or currently be working towards Stage 2 Practice Educator Award. Undertaken NAAS or willingness to complete within 6 months. Knowledge: Knowledge of social care legislation and guidance and other legislation e.g., Education and Housing relating to Children’s Social Care. Comprehensive knowledge of child development and disabilities. Good understanding of assessment and child care planning techniques. Experience: Extensive post qualification experience including that of a progressed social worker. ASYE plus at least 3 years’ experience with an additional supervisory/practice development role/contributing to learning of others. Significant post qualifying experience in a Child and Families setting. Direct work with vulnerable children and their families. Skills & Abilities: Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite). Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written. Ability to relate effectively with children and their parents. Ability to foster good inter/intra agency communication and to listen sensitively to different perspectives. Able to interpret and use management information, including financial management information. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to be child focussed and work effectively with children. Ability to fully meet the requirements of the post and cover the geographical area required, either by possession of a valid driving licence and access to public/other transport.
