Roles and responsibilities
* Drafting and negotiating contracts for football transactions across the Club’s men’s first team, women’s first team and academy teams.
* Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial and operational contracts with partners, suppliers and service providers.
* Providing support and advice across all the Club’s departments on a range of matters. This will include working closely with internal stakeholders in the Club’s Technical, Commercial, Marketing, Operations, Finance, People and Culture, Media, Medical and Technology departments.
* Identifying, assessing and putting in place measures to ensure legal compliance and mitigation of legal, regulatory and reputational risks.
* Providing support on contentious matters, including the production of submissions and witness statements for disputes in football-specific forums.
* Providing advice to internal stakeholders on applicable rules and regulations (including football-specific rules and regulations).
* Proactively assisting with the development and implementation of Club policies, processes and internal legal strategy.
* Working innovatively with the Club’s Technology department to develop and implement cutting‑edge legal software and systems.
* Working closely with the Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with all relevant data protection laws and regulations.
* To support the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights working in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
* Proactively staying abreast of all relevant legal, regulatory and industry‑specific developments and ensuring that relevant stakeholders are made aware of the same.
* Instructing and managing external legal advisers when necessary.
