Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist Stroke and Neurology

We can offer the role as a new or experienced band 5 with opportunities to progress to a band 6 after an individualised supportive development plan. Or starting as a Band 6 if you have sufficient relevant experience.
Main duties of the job
To provide high quality, patient centred care to individuals who have experienced a stroke or other neurological conditions. This will include specialist acute assessment and treatment including group work and education and advice.
You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapy programs that promote independence and enhance the quality of life for our patients.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Formal CPD in relevant clinical areas or equivalent experience and evidence
* BAOT Membership
* Supervision training or relevant experience in supervision and/ or basic management.
Experience
* Specialist knowledge and application of the Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention for patients with a neurological diagnosis.
* Knowledge of Occupational Therapy Outcome Measures.
* Ability to work autonomously and set priorities for the team and service
* Implementing a range of standardised and/or non standardised assessments to include cognitive assessments and interpretation of performance
* Experience of delivering cognitive rehabilitation
* Knowledge of seating and positioning, including ability to assess for postural management and positioning clients with neurological deficits.
* Experience in clinical audit
* Experience in policy development and implementation
* Experience in the supervision of junior and assistant staff.
Additional Criteria
* Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance
* Ability to pass on knowledge in theory and practice
* Ability to complete activity analysis of tasks & occupational performance.
