Job Title: Customs Coordinator
Location: Basingstoke (Hybrid - 2 days WFH)
Salary: Up to £34,000 DOE
Hours: 40 per week - Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Customs Coordinator to join our clients team in Basingstoke. This is a key role within operations, ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of goods across European road freight and deep-sea trades.
You'll be the link between clients, operations teams, and 3rd party customs brokers - providing accurate clearance instructions, ensuring full compliance with UK/EU regulations, and supporting customers with customs-related queries.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong customs compliance knowledge who is keen to develop their expertise further and potentially consult directly with clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 3rd party customs brokers with precise clearance instructions.
* Ensure compliance with UK and EU customs regulations, including classification and tariff requirements.
* Maintain extensive knowledge of the UK Customs Tariff (I, II, III).
* Monitor and manage customs processes for European road freight and deep-sea shipments.
* Advise and consult clients on compliance issues, providing guidance where needed.
* Assist with the processing of multi-modal international freight bookings, including Dangerous Goods where applicable.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a customs or compliance role within freight forwarding/logistics.
* Extensive knowledge of UK Customs Tariff (I, II, III).
* Proficiency in UK/EU Customs regulations and procedures.
* Experience using customs software, ideally ASM Sequoia.
* Previous experience with multi-modal shipments (air, sea, road) - Dangerous Goods knowledge is beneficial.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work under time pressure.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to consult with clients.
