Offer description

Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join the visitor experience team at Ormesby Hall as an Events Assistant (known as Programming Assistant in the National Trust). You'll assist in the delivery and development of a programme of activities and events, such as Easter, Halloween and Christmas.

Salary: £12.75 per hour

Duration: Fixed term contract from March until 31st December 2026

Hours/working pattern: This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in equal instalments over the contract.

You'll work up to 5 days a week during school holidays. Where possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we're looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the business needs. This role involves weekend and some evening work.

Interview date: Thursday 5th March

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it's like to work here

Reporting to the Senior Visitor Experience Officer, you'll work within an immediate team of four at Ormesby Hall and also with other departments, such as the collections & house and outdoors team. This role is based at the property so there is no remote working possible.

What you'll be doing

Working with the team, you'll create and deliver events and activities that bring our place to life for our visitors all year round. You'll be responsible in the setting up and packing down of activities, including the Easter trail and summer of play equipment. You'll also support in the planning and decorating of Ormesby Hall at Halloween and Christmas and deliver activities during the school holidays and support with the bigger weekend events, such as Love Local.

Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. You’ll help link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do. You’ll deliver high standards of presentation on site and ensure all our communications with our visitors around the property are clear and consistent.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
