We are excited to offer a Permanent Arboricultural Project Manager (Highways) position within our Scottish Grounds Maintenance team in Scotland. This is a full-time role, working 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The role involves managing various Arboriculture Projects, including Ash Dieback, across Scotland, mainly on the NMC North-East & South-West Contracts.
Ideal candidates will have a background in arboriculture or forest management, with strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively to set and achieve project goals, including developing processes and technical solutions.
What You’ll Do
* Lead woodland and Ash Dieback projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope and budget.
* Gather accurate data on tree and woodland assets, assessing their condition and maintenance needs.
* Collaborate with data and GIS teams, identify process improvements, and implement innovative data collection and analysis solutions.
* Maintain high standards of data quality through validation and quality control measures.
* Use analytical tools to extract insights from large datasets and improve data management.
* Create reports and visualizations to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
* Prepare technical notes, woodland management plans, and action plans for ash dieback.
* Assess operational methodologies for felling and thinning, working with stakeholders to develop solutions.
* Develop operational delivery programs, monitor progress, and manage risks to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
* Keep detailed records of project delivery and measure work using approved methods.
* Provide administrative support for operational activities and undertake professional tree inspections and surveys as needed.

Candidate Requirements
* Ability to work across all of Amey’s Network Maintenance Contracts in Scotland
* Experience in project management and data analysis in arboriculture or forestry
* Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* High accuracy in data collection, analysis, and reporting
* Experience with GIS and asset management software
* Organized, team-oriented, with good communication skills
* Knowledge of thinning and felling methodologies, especially mechanized solutions
* Ability to interpret complex information and collaborate effectively with stakeholders
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field preferred; HND considered
* Current or planned attainment in Lantra Professional Tree Inspection
* Qualifications in Business, Project Management, Data Analytics, or Process Improvement are desirable
* Experience on trunk road maintenance contracts or similar roles is a plus
* Strong entry-level candidates with appropriate qualifications may be considered
