Joiner (Public Sector) VANRATH are assisting our client, a large Public Sector Organisation, in their search for an Joiner for 6 months initially with the possibility of extension. You will predominantly be based in their Dundonald site. Responsibilities The successful candidate will be expected to fulfil a requirement to: Carry out a wide range of planned and reactive building maintenance and installation tasks in a safe, effective and economic manner. Carry out unplanned maintenance task which may include diagnosing and repairing faults for items such as, but not limited to: locking mechanisms for doors Ironmongery for doors (Handles, hinges, door closures, emergency release systems) Provide safe access to potential asbestos contaminated areas (above ceiling voids) Undertake planned maintenance checks for items such as, but not limited to: Building fabric and external ground condition surveys Fire compartment breaks, screens and doors Inspection of anti-ligature systems (e.g. windows, furniture, blinds, bedrails and bathroom fittings) Install and/or assemble items such as, but not limited to: Office furniture and accessories (Desks, notice boards, etc.) Washroom accessories (Mirrors, grab rails, soap dispensers, etc.) Wall impact protection/ hygiene cladding (corridors, clean rooms / showers) Respond to urgent reactive maintenance jobs such as, but not limited to: Temporary repairs to damaged windows and doors Roof leaks to a variety of roof types/systems and rainwater systems Requirements Must have completed a formal apprenticeship as a carpenter/joiner. AND Hold a relevant qualification at least at NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) together with a minimum of 3 years post apprenticeship experience. AND Hold 'Competent Person' certified training in the following work areas: Workshop Machinery Operation of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) AND Working knowledge and experience of carrying out joinery and building maintenance repairs. Working knowledge and experience in the use of woodworking machinery and hand / power tools. Working knowledge and experience of undertaking tasks of other engineering trade groups. Remuneration c£29,970 per annum, plus discount benefits.
