Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit aBand 7 Team Manager for the South Community Mental Health team based at Worsley Court. The team serve the population residing in Selby, Sherburn-in-Elmet, Tadcaster, Pocklington and surrounding areas.

The team aims to meet the needs of the local population who present with complex mental health needs. The team provide assessment and intervention for people who have mild through to severe and enduring mental health needs. We also work alongside community services within the area.

We are looking to appoint an existing team manager or from experienced practitioners looking to expand their professional development in operational team will be also joining an established peer group of Access and CMHT team managers who work across the City of York.

The base in Worsley Court benefits from free onsite parking as well as being walkable to amenities in the Selby Town Centre.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate with the support of their leadership team will improve the lives of people with mental ill health through effective leadership, management and service development to enable the delivery of excellent services to promote recovery and well-being for all service users.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering excellent mental health services and can support and enable the team to achieve their potential. Key responsibilities will include supervision and appraisal for the team, performance including key performance indicators, recruitment and management of staff, ensuring that people have timely access to our services and receive treatment in line with our pathways. You will need to have excellent relationship building and engagement skills and be capable of managing varied work demands based on the changing needs of the service. You will understand and embrace the challenge of delivering a service which is both high in quality, efficiency and sustainability.

Although the main duties of the role are to ensure the operational effectiveness of the team, you will still have the opportunity to involve yourself in direct clinical work, in line with the needs of the service.

Qualifications

Essential

1. Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work or relevant professional clinical qualification (ie PWP/CWP in IAPT/Getting Help services)
2. Be Educated to Master's level in leadership or a subject area relevant to the area of practice OR
3. Have equivalent clinical experience to that of masters level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience - which also includes significant experience of managing people (see below under experience), together with evidence of CPD
4. Be trained in Clinical Supervision and Providing Clinical Supervision
5. Be a Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor

6. Significant experience of managing people
7. Significant experience of working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field and working with patients who display risk behaviours
8. Working collaboratively with others (external partners, staff service users and their families/carers)
9. Working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation
10. Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
11. Risk assessment and management and its application in practice and Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
12. Evidence of training in Quality Improvement methodology or coaching, and/or using.

13. Significant evidenced based knowledge, to post-graduate level, of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field
14. Detailed understanding of Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
