The role
We are currently seeking a full-time Civil / Water & Wastewater Engineer with experience in designing water and wastewater infrastructure for Water Utilities and Contractors to join our growing team in Sligo, Ireland. Jennings O'Donovan Partners, part of the RSK Group, is a leading engineering consultancy specializing in renewable energy, water supply/treatment, and wastewater treatment. Key Responsibilities: Deliver civil and hydraulic engineering designs, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, including Uisce Éireann and/or UK AMP8 Utilities’ specifications. Prepare detailed engineering calculations (including hydraulic modeling, pipe sizing, and pump selections) and technical or design reports for various project stages, from feasibility to detailed design. Assist Senior Engineers in the full project lifecycle, including the preparation of planning applications, procurement documentation, and technical specifications. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Structural, MEP, and Process) to ensure integrated, holistic design solutions for treatment plants and networks. Conduct site inspections, asset surveys, and produce related technical reports, ensuring strict compliance with company quality assurance procedures. Utilise industry-standard design and modelling software to produce efficient, sustainable, and accurate civil engineering outputs. Actively engage in mentorship from senior staff while providing guidance to junior engineers and technicians. Key Requirements: Qualification: Minimum Level 8 qualification in Civil Engineering or Environmental/Water Resources Engineering. Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in a design consultancy, with a proven track record in water supply, wastewater treatment, and/or drainage infrastructure design. Technical Skills: Proven competency in civil infrastructure design, hydraulic analysis, and the application of relevant Irish and British industry standards. Proficiency in industry-standard design/modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroDrainage/Causeway, InfoWorks, or similar) is essential. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Uisce Éireann standards, procedures, and self-lay processes, and/or experience working within UK AMP Frameworks is highly desirable. Professional Skills: Experience in dealing with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders. Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, a proactive attitude with the ability to manage multiple tasks, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
