This is a substantive role contributing significantly to medicines management, patient welfare, and organizational efficiency. The position is rotational, designed to offer broad experience and training to support career progression.
If essential criteria are partially unmet, candidates may be considered for a progression band 5-6 role. Upon meeting set objectives within an agreed timeframe, progression to band 6 is possible. Details regarding objectives and timeframes will be provided upon successful offer.
Main duties of the job
* Provide senior leadership in pharmacy services at University Hospitals Sussex, including services to Brighton University.
* Undertake duties in specialist areas such as medicines optimisation and dispensary services.
* Coordinate and be responsible for training and development of trainee pharmacists and pre-registration pharmacy technicians in clinical and dispensary services.
* Contribute to service development, including addressing current service deficiencies and expanding services in counselling, adherence, flow coordination, and discharge transfer.

Job responsibilities
* Provide expert leadership and knowledge in clinical and technical pharmacy services at both hospital and ward levels.
* Create weekly clinical rotas and deliver medicines optimisation services to designated divisions.
* Ensure accurate medicines reconciliation, drug history taking, and assessments for patients pre-admission and pre-operation.
* Relabel medicines with changed doses/frequencies and organize timely supplies, including discharge medications.

Person Specification & Application
* NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPhC.
* Experience in ward and dispensary services, hospital pharmacy practice, and training.
* Leadership skills, ability to work independently and within MDT, and proficiency with pharmacy systems.
* Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per annum (pro-rata for part-time).
