Overview
Due to a structure review we are recruiting to a 1.0 wte progression post which starts at band 7 and moves to band 8a on completion of the CAMHS Band 7 - Band 8a Training and Progression Pathway. The successful candidate will join the Learning Disabilities Team within Hounslow Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
The post holder will use specialist and highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention skills with young people and their families/carers presenting with mental health difficulties. The role includes line management and supervision of any trainee or assistant psychologists within the team and supporting further service development where appropriate.
You will be based in the Learning Disabilities Team (LDT) in Hounslow CAMHS. The LDT sits alongside Tier 3 neurodevelopmental, specialist adolescent and child and family teams, and works in close collaboration with the Community CAMHS services. The LDT is multi-disciplinary and includes professionals from psychiatry, nursing and psychology who have a special interest and expertise in working with young people with learning disabilities.
This role would suit a clinical psychologist with some experience of working with children with learning disabilities. Newly qualified psychologists may also apply. You should be passionate about delivering a high-quality psychology service to young people with learning disabilities and will receive regular clinical supervision.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist and highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for young people with learning disabilities and their families/carers.
* Engage in reflective practice and maintain clinical curiosity in line with service standards.
* Offer line management and supervision to trainees or assistant psychologists within the team.
* Support service development and contribute to quality improvement initiatives where appropriate.
Qualifications and requirements
* Clinical Psychologist with experience in autism/learning disabilities or related neurodevelopmental work is preferred; newly qualified applicants may be considered.
* Commitment to delivering a high-quality psychology service and to multi-disciplinary team working.
* Ability to work collaboratively with children, young people and families, and to engage in reflective practice with regular supervision.
