What is the Role
Maintenance Electrician / Technician in small Power Station.
Reporting to the Supervisor, you will be working on station equipment, that ensures the safety, reliability, flexibility and efficiency of plant and equipment is maintained to meet the Company's requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Carry out day to day planned maintenance tasks reporting back any problems and recommend improvements.
- Get involved in larger maintenances tasks during the annual engineering outage.
- Fault find on electrical plant and equipment and carry out repairs to a satisfactory standard. Examples of equipment to be worked on would be Motors and motor starter circuits, lighting and small power circuits, Machinery control panels, and Safety circuits.
- Carry out small electrical installations including installing cable management, cables and electrical equipment to BS7671:2018 regulations.
- Support plant failures and/or unplanned outages and find the most effective solution to resolve the problem in terms of cost and time.
- Contribute towards the delivery of projects in line with SSE and Station strategies including help with specification, implementation, and commissioning.
- Instruct and supervise contractor resources to carry out tasks in accordance with SSE’s Safety Health and Environmental, and technical and commercial requirements.
- To ensure that appropriate records are kept for all work completed such that trends and learning points can be realised, and the updating of records (e.g. drawings, job plans) to reflect the current situation.
What do I need?
To be considered you must have:
- Educated to a minimum of City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 Electrical installation or equivalent plus served a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
- 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulation BS7671 City and Guilds 2382-18.
- Proficient at carrying out Risk Assessments.
- Experience working in a Power station or heavy industry environment.
- Good communication skills with the ability to communicate at various levels including senior management.
- Be an effective team member working well with others and proactive when working alone.
Desirable skills / qualifications but not essential
- IOSH managing safety certificate.
- CompEX gas EX01, EX02, EX03, EX04 and Dust EX05, EX06.
- Qualified to carry out Inspection and Testing of fixed wiring installations to BS7671:2018 wiring regulation. City and Guilds 2391.
- Qualified to carry out Portable Appliance Testing. PAT. City & Guilds 2377.
- Experience in interrogating PLCs for fault finding purposes.
