DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice to join our team specializing Finance Operations for our Distribution Business Unit (DBU) in Darlington. During your apprenticeship with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!
Summary of the course:
The DBU Finance Operations Apprentice role is a developmental position within the DBU. During the apprenticeship you will work 5 days per week, inclusive of day per week for study at New College Durham. The working hours are 8 hours a day (with flexibility to suit business needs during busy periods). On completion of this apprenticeship, you will obtain a Level 2,3 & 4 Diploma with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)..
RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
1. Assists with compiling, consolidating, and conducting basic analysis of accounting and finance information.
2. Assists with basic preparation of journal entries to assist with month end closing, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
3. Aids with monthly and annual account reconciliations under direct supervision.
4. Assists with the preparation of tables, charts, and other exhibits for reports.
5. Assists with financial analysis interpreting financial data by analyzing trends, variances, opportunities, and risks to provide insight to stakeholders regarding financial impact to drive business improvement.
6. Reconciliations of AP Liability accounts, GRNI (Goods Received Not Invoiced) and AP related balance sheet accounts
7. Completion of reporting packs and administrational work using Microsoft tools such as Excel and Outlook.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
8. GCSEs in Math's & English (Language and literature) at grade 6 or above, Business, accounting, and economics subjects are desirable. All other GCSE subjects at a grade 5 or above.
9. A-Levels in related fields are desirable but not essential.
10. An awareness of Microsoft tools such as Excel and Outlook.
11. The ability to actively learn through experimentation, using both successes and failures as opportunities to grow and tackle new problems effectively.
12. Strong collaboration skills to develop partnerships with stakeholders, drive performance aligned with organizational goals and provide guidance to support decision-making processes.
