Our Signalling Business in the UK provides opportunities across all phases of project delivery, including feasibility, option selection, single option development, detailed design and support of installation, testing and project close out. We work on major resignalling schemes and multi-disciplinary design packages, delivering high standards of safety and quality.
Your purpose is to deliver design verification and contribute to the development of signalling schemes with the potential to work across multiple projects and locations.
Responsibilities
* Verification of railway signalling designs, specifications and reports. May include production duties and applying first principles as required.
* Ensure all deliverables are verified and produced in compliance with company procedures, contractual and statutory requirements, and delivered within agreed timescales and performance parameters.
* Liaise with clients, stakeholders and external railway contractors.
* Mentor, support and develop junior staff.
* Technical liaison with other disciplines and externally within the AtkinsRéalis organisation.
Qualifications and Experience
* Holds a current IRSE Signalling Principles Designer License (1.1.550) and Signalling Design Verifier License (1.1.160).
* Substantial mainline signalling principles design experience, with knowledge of UK railway standards and processes at outline design / scheme development stages.
* Design verification experience across a range of project phases, systems and technologies.
* Strong commitment to safety and quality, with understanding of risk assessment and hazard identification during signalling design.
* Continued professional development and up-to-date design skills.
* Effective verbal and written English communication and collaboration with team members, clients and stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Proficient in CAD and signalling design tools (e.g., Bentley MicroStation).
* Work package management or lead design project experience.
* Experience in Signal Overrun Risk Assessment.
* Experience and/or qualification in Signal Sighting.
* Familiarity with electronic document management systems (e.g., ProjectWise).
* Experience undertaking signalling surveys and knowledge of lineside equipment and technologies.
* HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar; PTS holder.
Key Responsibilities and Opportunities
* Provide design delivery support across the project lifecycle from inception to Approval In Principle.
* Verify railway signalling designs, specifications and reports; assist with production duties as required.
* Ensure deliverables comply with procedures, contractual and statutory requirements and are delivered on time.
* Engage with clients, stakeholders and external railway contractors.
* Mentor and develop junior staff.
* Provide technical liaison with other team disciplines and the wider AtkinsRéalis organisation.
