Our bespoke support workers are responsible for providing trauma informed support in line with the child’s care plan, promoting safety and well-being, and protecting the child from harm.


Responsibilities

* Provide day-to-day trauma informed support set out in the child’s care plan to meet day-to-day needs, including cooking meals, helping the child keep their bedroom clean, and ensuring the home is clean and safe.
* Promote healthy lifestyle choices through structure and routine expected within a family home.
* Support the child’s engagement with education, training, or employment.
* Promote good relationships with neighbours and the wider community.
* Facilitate engagement with broader support services and health appointments as specified in the care plan.
* Facilitate access to the community, cultural and leisure activities aligned with the child’s interests and aspirations.
* Transport as necessary with the relevant business use insurance.
* Promote Family Time contact for children looked after with birth family members where specified in the care plan.
* Ensure the child’s views about their care, support and accommodation are listened to and acted upon where appropriate.
* Adhere to the Philomena protocol if the child goes missing, including searching for the child, trying to contact the child and known associates; report to Social Worker/Duty Worker or EDT if not located within the agreed period.
* Support move-on plans and assist with the child’s transition.
* Maintain a daily logbook/incident book and share this with colleagues during handovers via an agreed secure method.
* Notify package managers of all incidents of self-harm, running/missing, substance misuse, property damage and violent/abusive behaviour, and any other significant risks identified by the support workers, immediately through the EDT (out of hours).
* Adhere to organisational policies relating to Safeguarding, Health and Safety, and General Data Protection Regulations.
