The role involves leading a clinical team and working within a wider leadership team across the hospital to ensure a seamless and well delivered service. As an independent hospital, our 18 inpatient beds are commissioned in their entirety by NHS England.

Role Context
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a clinical team within the adult eating disorder ward and work within a wider leadership team across the hospital to ensure a seamless and well delivered service. Riverdale Grange is a specialist treatment provider for adults and young people, with 18 beds commissioned by NHS England.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the delivery of service in line with organisational objectives and service specification with support from the Clinical Matron/Hospital Manager.
* Work with other managers to deliver outcomes across the hospital; ensure staff wellbeing, attendance management and quality supervision.
* Provide frontline leadership to ward staff and develop a culture of clinical improvement, empowering the team to improve patient care and wellbeing.
* Deputise for the Clinical Matron/Hospital Manager as required; ensure service meets quality metrics and supports innovation.
* Ensure efficient use of staffing and resources, maintain an effective rota, monitor staffing levels and assess patient needs; advise on staffing changes as required.
* Oversee clinical incident reporting, lessons learned dissemination and practice change.
* Investigate complaints and apply learning.
* Manage delegated ward budget with support from Hospital Manager and Finance Manager.
* Undertake specialist clinical assessments and make autonomous decisions based on complex presentations and risk assessment.
* Provide advice, supervision and education to colleagues; act as a role model for clinical excellence.
* Liaise with other providers and across Provider Collaboratives to promote hospital services and maintain positive partnerships.
* Maintain professional knowledge, lead clinical audits and drive continuous improvement.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse
* Diploma or degree
* 2 years experience at Band 6 level
Experience
* Significant experience in an inpatient mental health setting
* Knowledge or experience of quality improvement processes
* Experience of planning and leading teams and effective teamwork
* Experience of contingency planning
Knowledge
* Knowledge of reducing restrictive practice and contemporary mental health issues
* Knowledge of patient-focused approaches and user/carer involvement
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and related legislation
* Good knowledge of clinical governance
* Understanding of strategic, tactical and operational management
Skills
* Ability to develop and change clinical practice in a collaborative and inclusive way
* Ability to hold others to account and influence a multidisciplinary team
