Senior paediatric audiologist

We are looking for two enthusiastic Senior Paediatric Audiologists to join ourexpanding team in Hounslow. There is one full time role (37.5 hours) and one parttime role (30 hours) available.You will work as an autonomous practitioner in the assessment, diagnosis,treatment and evaluation of a diverse caseload.Your role will require you to carry out a range of comprehensive audiologicalassessments and provide habilitation to our paediatric population including thosewith complex needs.You will need to have experience in working in a paediatric setting and beregistered with the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS).We have a number of sites across Hounslow that you will be expected to workfrom;- Heart of Hounslow Centre for Health- Feltham Centre for Health- Chiswick Health CentreWe are an IQIPS accredited Community Paediatric Audiology Service. We haverecently been assessed by NHE England and NWL ICB and they have provided fullassurance of our paediatric audiology service.All interviews will be in person on site in Hounslow. Main duties of the job

Clinical responsibilities:o Provision of a range of comprehensive audiological assessments andhearing aid provision to the paediatric population including children withcomplex needs.o Effective and supportive communication with parents and professionals.o Support efficient service deliveryo To organise and provide hearing assessments for children with specialneeds in schools.o Assist in gathering departmental performance data, developing clinicalpathways and efficient working of patient management systems such asAuditbase.o To be responsible for the referral process onwards from the department toother agencies i.e. GPs, ENT, Paediatricians etc.o To supervise junior members of staff; support in their training anddevelopment.Service Delivery Responsibilities:o To support the Team Lead and Clinical Service Manager in maintainingIQIPS accreditation.

o To participate in audit programmes, on-going development of newtechniques and technology within the department.o To ensure that a family friendly approach permeates all contact betweenaudiology services and Deaf/ Hard of Hearing children and their families inown practice and junior staff.o To deal with all equipment faults including arranging repair in line withdepartmental and manufacturers guidelines.o To maintain stock levels, records and stock taking.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Degree level or equivalent education in Audiology or MSc in Audiology OR Parts I and II BAAT and Certificate for higher training (Paediatric)
* Evidence of CPD
* On the voluntary register with AHCS
* BSc in Audiology and Certificate of higher training (Paediatric)
* CAC or CCC


Experience

* 3 years of experience of working in an NHS audiology department
* 1 year of experience as paediatric audiologist
* Experience of aiding children using NHSP/BAA protocols
* Experience of working with the deaf, their families and culture
* Experience of behavioural, rehabilitation and electrophysiological assessment
* Audiological experience of working with newborn hearing screening programme
* Experience of working with a cochlear implant team
* Electrophysiological assessment for young babies
* Experience of peer reviews


Skill and Abilities

* Ability to work with children and their parents with other disabilities, e.g. learning difficulties, autism.
* Ability to work as autonomous professional
* Multi-tasking, able to work under pressure
* Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and diverse patient group
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written


Knowledge

* Infection prevention and control
* Theoretical and practical knowledge of paediatric audiology and advanced audiological test techniques including national developments.
* Ability to formulate comprehensive and appropriate management plans based on good case history information.
* Awareness of budgetary/management limitations and constraints
