Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid: 2+ days/week in office)

About the Opportunity:
As Portfolio Lead – Platforms & Engineering, you will oversee a significant portion of the technology audit plan, focusing on cloud migrations, AI/ML deployments, DevSecOps pipelines, and modern software engineering practices. Your goal is to ensure robust, forward-looking controls as the business evolves.
You will lead a team of technical auditors, collaborate with senior stakeholders across technology and risk, and embed assurance earlier in the delivery process. You will also evaluate emerging technologies, including cloud-native services and generative AI.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Oversee delivery of a broad technology audit portfolio, focusing on engineering platforms, agile change, and AI systems
* Build relationships with senior engineering and transformation stakeholders to proactively address risks
* Guide and review audit scoping, delivery, and reporting across multiple engagements
* Conduct strategic and complex audits, especially involving emerging tech or AI governance
* Promote automation, data-driven testing, and innovative assurance practices
* Utilize your expertise in AI/ML or cloud to challenge assumptions, identify blind spots, and shape risk management during transformation
* Mentor and develop talent, sharing technical insights and fostering a builder’s mindset in audit teams
* Contribute to long-term audit planning with insights on tech trends and disruptions
What We’re Looking For
* Extensive experience with cloud platforms, AI/ML systems, or modern engineering pipelines
* Understanding of AI risks like data drift, model explainability, or governance issues
* Background in DevOps, platform engineering, transformation delivery, or technology risk
* Ability to simplify complexity and provide clear, risk-aware insights
* Strong relationship skills—advising senior stakeholders confidently and asserting where needed
* Audit or risk experience is beneficial but not mandatory; we value real-world tech delivery passion
Bonus Points If You Also Bring:
* Certifications in cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) or AI/ML (e.g., Google ML certifications)
* Experience with agile or scaled agile delivery models
* Knowledge of controls-by-design, engineering governance, or responsible AI frameworks
* Previous experience in internal audit, risk, or regulated sectors like banking or insurance
