Technical Business Analyst
Location: Newcastle, Hybrid Working: 3 days per week from Newcastle, Cobalt Business Park office. Security Clearance: Offer subject to BPSS and SC clearance, requiring 5 years continuous UK address history.
Responsibilities
* 1.5‑5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in a software delivery or technology environment.
* Bridge the gap between IT and the business using data analytics to assess processes, elicit requirements and deliver data‑driven recommendations and reports to executives and stakeholders.
* Create functional designs, sequence diagrams, process flows, business rules catalogues and product backlog items to agree detailed requirements with client product owners and clearly communicate what needs to be developed and tested.
* Identify, analyse and complete complex business impact assessment across multiple business streams to understand the impact of the product/change.
* Prepare and co‑ordinate business activities to support large implementations.
* Ensure business is operationally ready to support the target operating model.
* Lead business change activities, building communications and designing training plans to support change.
* Support testing by reviewing scripts, triaging defects and assisting with test queries.
* Collaborate with UX/UI designers, developers, and testers throughout the software development lifecycle.
* Participate in and facilitate Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand‑ups).
* Assist in prioritising the product backlog in alignment with value, risk, and dependencies.
* Identify and communicate technical constraints, risks, and dependencies to the team and stakeholders.
* Experience working with cross‑functional teams & roles (developers, testers, UX, product, live services, DevOps, & technical architects).
* Basic understanding of APIs, databases, and system integration concepts.
Additional Responsibilities (Senior Analyst/Consultant Levels)
* Operate independently in a high impact customer facing role.
* Take customers through requirements identification and elicitation.
* Integrate closely with both business and technology teams to create a holistic vision of the solution.
* Work closely with solution architects and technical architects to develop solutions for customers.
* Coach and lead junior Business Analysts.
* Demonstrate proficiency of Business Analysis tools and techniques.
* Shape innovative solutions to problems.
* Proven record of successful delivery and problem solving, guiding others.
* Lead on innovative solution design.
Qualifications
* Establish and implement mechanisms to measure and deliver benefits.
* Improve existing and new business operations across project portfolios.
* Understand business change needs and assess business impact.
* Use structured techniques for solution design such as Design Thinking, UML or BPMN.
* Use tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio or Excel.
* Experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) or Waterfall delivery.
* Experience delivering change in multiple industry areas, including Public Sector.
* Write clear, concise user stories and functional requirements.
* Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation and analysis.
* Analyse large datasets to identify trends, confirm requirements and detect data quality issues.
* Familiarity with enterprise platforms, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Salesforce) or GenAI.
* Familiarity with UX principles or wireframing tools (Figma, Balsamiq).
