We are excited to offer a part time Band 6 static position with our Occupational Therapy Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation team based with the Llandough Centre for Specialist Spinal and Neuro Rehabilitation, University Hospital Llandough. The Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation Unit provides specialist assessment and rehabilitation for service users with highly complex neurological impairment including PDOC (Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness).
Main duties of the job
As a member of the multi‑professional team you will work with service users with complex physical, psychological and cognitive needs, delivering neuro specialist assessments and interventions as part of an individualised rehabilitation programme, including complex seating and postural management, cognition and sensory awareness, upper limb management plus opportunity to work with service users in PDOC. You will work closely with service users' carers and families in regard to education and training. You will act as a keyworker and training will be provided for this. You will engage in complex regional discharge planning including multi‑agency communication, facilitate environmental assessment/recommendation and advise ongoing care need.
Experience of complex disability management, postural assessment/seating/wheelchair provision, upper limb management/splinting, cognition, complex discharge planning/repatriation would support this role. Person Specification
Special knowledge
* Evidence of relevant post graduate training courses
* Awareness of Health and Safety/clinical risk management
Skills
* Demonstrate specialist skills within neuro, rehabilitation or disability management
* Highly developed physical skills relevant to the clinical area e.g. manual techniques and therapeutic handling
* Proven ability to manage a clinical caseload
* Proven ability to motivate others, promote coproduction and empower others
* Adaptive/ flexible team player
Experience
* Significant post registration experience in rehabilitation relevant to the post
* Experience as working as part of an MDT
* Active involvement in service development and quality initiatives
* Experience working with neurological conditions.
Qualifications
* Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in Occupational Therapy
* Holds professional registration as awarded by the Health & Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
* Specialist training/courses to Postgraduate Diploma level
