Offer description

University Hospitals of North Midlands is currently unable to provide sponsorship for Band 2 and Band 3 roles. This is in accordance with UKVI guidelines and legislation, as these roles do not meet the skill nor salary threshold for sponsorship. If you hold a graduate visa, you are welcome to apply for this role; however, UHNM will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of your graduate visa. You must also have at least six months remaining on your graduate visa at the start of employment for training and operational reasons.

The cardiology department at the University Hospitals of North Midlands provides diagnostic testing for inpatients and outpatients at both Royal Stoke Hospital and County Hospital. These include exercise tolerance testing, head-up tilt table testing, echocardiography, pacemaker implant and follow-up, haemodynamic monitoring during invasive coronary angiography, electrophysiological testing, and electrocardiography (ECG). Resting electrocardiography and ambulatory ECG monitoring are essential parts of the wider service. The primary focus of this role is to support ECG services and arrhythmia monitoring services at both the trust and in the community. In addition to ECG, this role involves assisting senior healthcare scientists in the provision of specialist clinics. The successful applicant will join an established team of 15 healthcare science assistants.

The cardiology department has an established training and development programme to provide the practical skills required for a range of specialist invasive and non-invasive cardiac investigations. This role will include recording ECGs, assisting in exercise tolerance and tilt testing, arrhythmia monitoring, and community-based ECG clinics in Stoke-on-Trent. Analysis and interpretation of clinical data and providing technical reports will also be required.

Services are provided at various community settings across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire, as well as at both Royal Stoke and County Hospital sites. Candidates will need to be able to travel to each of these settings.
